Base:

60g porridge oats and 120ml water.

Cook on a low heat (should take about 10-15 mins if the oats aren't soaked)

Combinations:

Varies on the time of year, but I like to either go with colours that go well together (usually means they'll taste good) or theme the porridge with cakes and desserts I like. All the recipes can be changed to fit whatever you have (add chia seeds or orange essence etc.)

CARROT CAKE

Grated half a large carrot (add at the beginning so it cooks a bit)

1/2 teaspoon vanilla

1/2 teaspoon ginger

1/2 teaspoon ground cloves

1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

mashed banana

To serve:

Brown sugar/maple syrup or honey

Mixed seeds

Yogurt (Extra nice if you add a little cream cheese and lemon zest)

Peanut butter

GREEN

Grated half corgette (add at the beginning so it can cook)

1 teaspoon of matcha

1/2 teaspoon vanilla

To serve:

Yogurt

Blueberries

Honey

Toasted nuts

BLACK FOREST

1 teaspoon cocoa powder

1/2 teaspoon almond essence

1/2 teaspoon vanilla

1/2 mashed banana

To serve:

Honey

yogurt

cacao nibs

Toasted nuts (or flaked almonds...)

A couple of squares of good quality chocolate

Forest berries

1/2 banana finely sliced

COMBOS:

Pear, ginger and chocolate

Banana and either caramely or chocolatey flavour. I like adding banana when I use vegetables to make it sweeter

Apple (add at the beginning so it goes soft) and soaked raisens or raspberries and cinnamon

Add a tablespoon of cooked quinoa with mixed spices
